Zimmerer, Unger Make Quarterfinals at Boys State Bowling

Two of three Columbus High boys bowlers made it to the quarterfinals of the Class A state singles tournament yesterday. 

Senior Kelton Zimmerer had the sixth best qualifying series of 798, finishing 10 pins better than his Discoverers teammate, junior Gavin Unger who earned the eighth and final spot.  Zimmerer fell by just one pin, 375-374, to Colin Meysenburg of Lincoln Pius X in the quarterfinals.  Unger was downed by the eventual singles champion Brennan Heck of Papillion La Vista-South 516-400.

Columbus freshman Jacob Staub had a 638 series to finish 20th out of 30 bowlers in the qualifying round.
