Vokolek Back From Injury, Ervin May Miss Rest of Season

Nebraska’s close loss at Oklahoma last Saturday marked the 2021 debut of junior tight end Travis Vokolek.

Vokolek suffered a foot injury in fall camp.  But, on Saturday the Huskers had him back; sometimes on the field with Austin Allen in two tight end sets.  Vokolek told reporters on Monday he feels that’s the best personnel group for the NU offense. “When we’re both out there on the field I think we roll pretty well,” Vokolek said.

Meantime, running back Gabe Ervin Jr. is out indefinitely and possibly for the season after suffering a knee injury at Oklahoma.  The freshman started NU’s first two games and was a backup in the last two.

The Huskers visit Michigan State on Saturday.  Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and the action will be broadcast on News Talk 900 KJSK and 93.5 The Hawk.
