Lakeview’s softball team pulled off an upset in the first round of yesterday’s B-7 subdistrict tournament and the Vikings are still alive despite losing their second game.

Lakeview, seeded number 3, knocked off second-seeded York 6-3.  The Dukes broke a 1-all tie with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Vikings responded with four runs in the sixth and added an insurance run in the seventh.

Lakeview first baseman Calie Booth went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and a run, while Hannah Allen pitched a complete game.

In the second game at Seward, the Vikings fell to the host Bluejays 10-0 in four innings.  Lakeview is 10-13 and will have a rematch against York, who rebounded yesterday with an 11-1 win over Blue River.

Today’s winner between the Lady Vikes and Dukes will need to beat Seward twice to win the subdistrict title.
