Smith Named to Palmer Cup Team

Nebraska women’s golfer Kate Smith was chosen yesterday to represent the U.S. in the Arnold Palmer Cup.
The tournament will be held June 11-13 near Chicago. It will match 12 top U.S. men’s and women’s collegiate golfers against the best dozen international collegiate golfers in a format similar to the Ryder Cup. It’s the only major tournament that features men and women playing side-by-side as partners, divided into 12 groups of two-person teams.
Smith, a fifth-year senior, won the Big Ten Women’s Golf Championship this year. She was named twice to the All-Big Ten first team.
