Shamrocks Mustard, Oakley Win KLIR Prep Club Awards

Grace Mustard and Garrett Oakley of Scotus were voted by KLIR Prep Club sponsors as the Shamrocks’ winners of the 37th annual awards.

Mustard has been a standout in track, volleyball and basketball.  In track, she holds the school record in the 100-meter hurdles and placed second in that event at last spring’s state track meet.  In her third year as a starter on the Scotus volleyball team last fall, Mustard earned all-conference honors.  She also led the girls basketball club in scoring last season.  Mustard will attend the University of Nebraska-Omaha on a track scholarship.

Oakley’s talents on the gridiron earned him a football scholarship from Kansas State.  He finished his Shamrocks career with 108 receptions for 1,622 yards and 17 touchdowns.  On defense, he amassed 155 tackles with 52 assists, including 15 tackles for loss, and had 10 interceptions.  Oakley’s basketball season was cut short by hip surgery, which kept him from participating in track this spring.  He qualified for the state track meet in the long jump as a junior.
