Scotus Tops Team Leaderboard at State Golf Tourney

Scotus was in first place after the opening day of the Class C boys state golf tournament yesterday at Elks Country Club. 

The Shamrocks carded a team total of 42-over, 330 and were three strokes ahead of Doniphan-Trumbull.  Scotus was led by Nick Fleming, who was fourth individually after a 6-over 78.  One stroke behind him and tied for fifth were the Shamrocks’ Seth VunCannon and Jaylin Jakub of Aquinas. 

Columbus High’s Brock Kuhlman shot a 3-over-par 75 and was tied for eighth after the opening day of the Class A tourney at Norfolk Country Club.  Lakeview was tenth out of 12 teams after the first round of the Class B state event at Scotts Bluff Country Club.  The Vikings’ top individual score was turned in by Maxwell Fremarek, who shot a six-over 78 and was tied for 13th. 

In Class D at North Platte, Howells-Dodge was sixth and St. Francis was tied for eleventh.  The top area individual was the Jaguars’ Cole Grovijohn, who was tied for 12th after carding a 12-over 84.
