Schwellenbach, Povich Get Selected in MLB Draft

Nebraska’s Spencer Schwellenbach and Cade Povich were both selected yesterday in the 2021 MLB Draft.

Schwellenbach was picked by the Atlanta Braves in the second round as the 59th overall pick, then Povich was the 98th overall pick by the Minnesota Twins in the third round.

They are the first Husker teammates to be taken in the first three rounds of the MLB Draft since 2005.  That year, Alex Gordon was the number 2 overall pick by Kansas City and Brian Duensing was selected in the third round by Minnesota.

The draft wraps up today with rounds 11 through 20.
