Nebraska and senior wide receiver JD Spielman have reportedly “mutually” parted ways.

Sean Callahan with HuskerOnline/Rivals first reported the news that Spielman has entered the NCAA transfer portal.  The move was confirmed by the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star.

Spielman has been away from the Huskers football team for months due to personal reasons.

He was NU’s top receiver last season with 49 receptions for 898 yards and five touchdowns.  Spielman ranks third all-time in Nebraska history with 170 receptions and third with 2,546 receiving yards.

He also accounted for more than 1,000 return yards and scored 18 total touchdowns.
