Prep Football Title Games Moved to Friday at Higher Seeds
With cases of COVID-19 on the rise in Lancaster County, the NSAA has decided that the state football championships will not be played at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
And instead of being held as scheduled next Monday and Tuesday, they will be played this Friday, with the higher seed hosting in Class A through D2. Game times will be mutually agreed upon between the participating schools. The Class D6 championship game will be played as scheduled this Friday at Kearney’s Cope Stadium.
According to media reports, the NSAA will move forward with the start of winter sports practices beginning today, although Lancaster County has decided to push back indoor sports until at least December 7th.
Governor Pete Ricketts said last week that restrictions on prep sports could be triggered if COVID-19 hospitalizations rise to 25% of total hospital beds available in the state.
