GRAND ISLAND- Five schools in Grand Island were on lockdown while police searched for a man who stabbed a dog in the area.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, at 7:00 a.m., 30-year-old Shane Brethour threatened a person and stabbed a dog 2 blocks from Trinity Lutheran Schools. GIPD says they believe Brethour may be in the company of a 15-year-old runaway juvenile. Trinity Lutheran Lincoln, Howard, Jefferson and Knickrehm elementary schools were placed on lockdown for a short time but have since been cleared to resume regular activities.

GIPD says they are currently trying to locate Brethour.
