Lakeview’s Home Baseball Games Tonight Canceled

After having their seasons delayed by COVID-19, Lakeview’s Legion baseball teams almost made it through a shortened six-week campaign unaffected by the pandemic.

However, tonight’s home games against Arlington have been canceled – as were Monday’s home contests against Albion – after an athlete who plays for both Lakeview clubs came down with coronavirus-type symptoms last Friday night.

Travis Tessendorf, coach of the Owens Wealth Advisors Lakeview Junior Reds, said the decision to cancel tonight’s games was made at noon since the player’s COVID-19 test results were not yet known and the health department required the teams to call off contests until test results are in.

He says there is still an “outside chance” the 10-0 Junior Reds finish their season as scheduled with a doubleheader at O’Neill on Friday.  A decision on whether to play that twinbill will be made at noon on Thursday.

The Bank of the Valley Lakeview Seniors wind up with an 8-6 record.
