Hitchcock Era for CHS Boys Hoops Begins Tonight
The Jordan Hitchcock era for the Columbus High boys’ basketball team begins tonight. Hitchcock’s Discoverers will host Millard North, ranked number one by both the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star.
Millard North features a potent lineup led by Hunter Sallis, who has just been named as a candidate for Sports Illustrated’s high school All-America basketball team.
Tipoff in the CHS main gym is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on KLIR 101. The Columbus girls will play Millard North in the auxiliary gym starting at 7 p.m.
Also tonight, Lakeview girls and boys will host Crete, with the girls contest starting at 6:15. Scotus entertains Hastings St. Cecilia in a girls/boys twinbill, with the girls action starting at 5:30.
And on 93.5 The Hawk, Twin River visits North Bend Central in a girls/boys doubleheader, with the girls game tipping off at 6 p.m.
Two other Columbus High teams open their seasons today. The Discoverers swimming and diving club visits Fremont and the wrestling squad has a dual at Grand Island.
