Handgun Found On Student At Columbus Middle School

COLUMBUS- A 14-year-old student at Columbus Middle School was found with a handgun Tuesday.
Students reported the gun to Columbus Middle School staff who then escorted the student to the office without incident where a loaded black handgun was found in the students book bag. At 10:54am, Columbus Police were alerted. The student was taken into custody by Columbus Police and is being held at the Northeast Nebraska Juvenile Detention Center on the charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds.
No one was threatened by the student.
