Creighton Men’s Hoops Avoids Getting Upset in Opener

Ninth-ranked Creighton used a game-ending 16-3 run to avoid an upset in its season opener last night, getting by St. Thomas 72-60. 

The Bluejays trailed 57-56 with 9:58 left in the game at CHI Health Center.  The Jays’ Arthur Kaluma led all scorers with 17 points and added eight rebounds.  Baylor Scheierman notched a double-double in his CU debut with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  He hit back-to-back three-pointers to begin Creighton’s decisive 14-0 run to pull ahead 70-57. 

The Bluejays host North Dakota on Thursday.
