The Cornerstone Insurance Group Columbus Seniors lost a home game to Hastings last night.  Meantime, the Columbus United Federal Credit Union Junior Blues dropped both ends of a twinbill at Hastings. 

Cornerstone was drubbed 11-1 in five innings at Pawnee Park Field.  Hastings scored four runs in the first inning and added to their total with multiple runs in each of their next three at-bats.  The Columbus Seniors scored their only run in the first inning and were held to three hits in the contest.  The loss dropped Cornerstone’s record to 1-1. 

In Hastings, the Junior Blues out-hit the home club 6-4, but lost 4-1 in the opener.  In the nightcap, the Junior Blues took an 8-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh.  But, Hastings rallied to score four runs and send the game into extra innings, before scoring the winning run in the eighth inning for a 9-8 victory.  The Junior Blues fell to 1-3 on the season. 

Both Columbus squads return to action tomorrow.  Cornerstone visits Kearney for a doubleheader, while the Junior Blues will host Kearney in a twinbill.  First pitch of the opening game for both teams is at 5 p.m.
