CHS Baseball on Brink of First State Tourney Trip Since ’53

Columbus High’s baseball team is three outs away from making its first trip to the state tournament since 1953.

The Discoverers were leading Lincoln East 6-4 in the top of the 10th inning Saturday night when the A-3 district final was suspended by lightning and rain.  The two teams will resume the game at Den Hartog Field in Lincoln today at 4:30 with CHS batting with the bases full and two outs in the top of the 10th.

Earlier on Saturday, the third-seeded Discoverers edged number-2 seed Creighton Prep 7-6 in the district semifinals.
