Chinander on Hill, Feist; Huskers Add DB For This Season

Nebraska defensive coordinator Erik Chinander says there’s still a lot of competition for starting spots at just about every position.

Following Monday’s practice, Chinander was asked about the potential of sophomore defensive back Tommi Hill, an Arizona State transfer who was a top-200 prospect from Orlando.  “Every day he flashes,” Chinander said.  “Every day he makes a great play.  Tommi’s just got to be a little more consistent.”

Chinander praised junior defensive lineman Colton Feist, a Yutan High grad who dealt with some injuries last season.  “He’s put himself in position to play a ton of snaps this year, whether he gets to be a starter or whether he’s the first guy in the rotation.  He’s done an unbelievable job with technique.”

Nebraska announced yesterday that defensive back Brandon Moore has joined the program for this season.  Moore played in 21 games for Central Florida in 2017 and 2018.  A knee injury cost him the 2019 and 2020 seasons.  He moved on to Florida State in the spring of 2021, but left in August and did not play last year.
