Boys State Golf Tournaments Tee Off Today
The opening day of the two-day boys state golf tournaments is today.
Lakeview, which won a district title last week to qualify as a team for the Class B tourney in Gering, is trying to improve on a tenth place finish in last year’s team standings. The Vikings were led in districts by Max Fremarek, who took third. He tied for seventh in last year’s state tournament at Monument Shadows Golf Course.
Scotus won a Class C state team title last year, but finished fourth in its Class B district last week to miss joining Lakeview as a team. Two Shamrocks qualified individually. They are Nick Fleming, who tied for third a year ago, and Patrick Arndt, who tied for 19th in the 2022 Class C tourney.
This year’s Class C field at Elks Country Club includes St. Paul’s entire team and Central City’s Ayden Zikmund. Humphrey St. Francis is playing as a team in the Class D tournament in North Platte. Kellen Fiala of Howells-Dodge is also competing at Lake Maloney Golf Club.
