Creighton raced out to an early 6-0 lead, then had to fend off a ninth inning rally to claim a 7-6 victory over No. 9 UConn.
Last night’s win in Omaha was the Bluejays’ first over a top-10 ranked team since a CU win over fifth-ranked Wichita State in 2018. It moved the Jays a game-and-a-half in front of Georgetown for the fourth and final spot in the Big East tournament. Creighton is 10-9 in the conference and 25-22 overall.
Game 2 of the series is tonight at 6 p.m. at Charles Schwab Field.
