Big East’s New Divisions Trims CU Volleyball’s Opponents

The Big East Conference has announced a fall sports schedule that will keep Creighton volleyball’s road matches closer to home.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference announced yesterday that it will have two divisions this year.  Creighton will only face other teams in the Midwest Division, which also includes Butler, DePaul, Marquette and Xavier.

The East Division includes Georgetown, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Villanova and UConn.

The league’s athletic directors approved the plan to help schools decrease travel costs and limit the risk of the spread of coronavirus.

Under the plan, the Bluejays will still play a nonconference schedule, which traditionally has included a match against Nebraska.
