White: Blackshirts Focusing on Standards, Not Just Results

Nebraska’s football team will roll into Michigan State on Saturday with a 5-3 record and tied for first in the Big Ten West at 3-2 in conference play.

The Huskers’ defensive coordinator, Tony White, has echoed this week what coach Matt Rhule said earlier: the game film of last week’s win over Purdue showed the Blackshirts have room to improve.  “It’s the standard of play versus the results,” White said.  “So many times, everybody gets fixated on the results.  It’s great to win and all that stuff, but what happens is you neglect the things that will get you beat later on down the line against better opponents.”

Michigan State will be trying to snap a six-game losing skid on Saturday.  The Spartans are 2-6 on the season and 0-5 in the Big Ten.

Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.  The pregame begins at 7 on News Talk 900 KJSK and will be joined at 10:30 on 93.5 The Hawk.
