Vokolek: Being Named a Huskers Team Captain “Means Everything”

Nebraska tight end Travis Vokolek says being named one of four team captains last weekend “means everything.”  That was reinforced over the weekend when he talked to former Husker tight end and team captain Austin Allen.

“I’ve looked up to him, one of my best buddies,” Vokolek said. “He just said be the best leader you can be, be vocal, confront people and just be the best leader you can be.”

Asked about NU starting quarterback Casey Thompson, Vokolek says the Texas transfer is vocal and knows the Huskers’ offense.  “He knows everything about offense.  If you have a question about it, he’s always up here watching film.  He’s one of the hardest workers I know when it comes to watching film and taking care of his body.”

Nebraska will face Northwestern Saturday in Dublin, Ireland.  Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m.  The pregame starts at 7:30 on News Talk 900 KJSK.  It will be joined at 11:00 on 93.5 The Hawk.
