Down two key players, the U.S. women’s volleyball team still swept the Dominican Republic with the help of two ex-Huskers in the Olympic quarterfinals last night.  Jordan Larson had five kills and a match-high 15 digs, while Justine Wong-Orantes added 13 digs as Team USA won 25-11, 25-20, 25-19.

The Americans are 5-1 in Tokyo and have advanced to the semifinals against Serbia.  Friday’s match will be a rematch of a semifinal the U.S. lost five years ago in Rio de Janeiro.

Meantime, despite former Husker Sarah Pavan’s best efforts, Canada’s beach volleyball team fell to Australia 2-1 in the quarterfinals.  Pavan totaled 20 kills and had three blocks, but the top-seeded Canadians finished the Games with a 4-1 record.
