Nebraska coach Scott Frost announced last night that Casey Thompson will be the Huskers starting quarterback.
Chubba Purdy and Logan Smothers are behind Thompson on the depth chart. Frost, who was speaking on Sports Nightly on KJSK, said he “wouldn’t be surprised” if more than one quarterback plays in the opener against Northwestern.
Following yesterday’s practice, offensive coordinator Mark Whipple said he felt good about all three QBs. “Our guys have done a good job taking care of the ball,” Whipple said.
NU’s opener in Dublin, Ireland next Saturday has an 11:30 a.m. kickoff.
