Shamrocks Boys Stun Panthers, Bison on the Bubble

The Scotus boys basketball team is two wins away from making its ninth appearance in the state tournament and first since 2017.

The No. 4 seeded Shamrocks stunned top seed Fillmore Central, beating the Panthers on their home court 49-38 in last night’s C1-6 subdistrict semifinal.  Caleb Cameron and Cohen Pelan each had 13 points and Jackson Heng scored seven of his 10 points in the final quarter as Scotus won its fourth straight to improve to 10-13.

Fillmore Central slipped to 20-3, but appears to have a good chance of being one of four wildcard teams that make it to the C1 district finals.  The Shamrocks will need to defeat Aurora in Thursday’s subdistrict final to advance to a district championship.  The game will tip off at 7 p.m. on KLIR 101.

The No. 3 seed Huskies downed No. 2 seed Central City in the late C1-6 semifinal.  Aurora is 15-8 and needs to beat Scotus Thursday to get to a district final.  The Bison are 20-4, but are on the bubble and may miss the district finals a year after making their first appearance in the state tourney since 1947.
