Scotus Girls Make State Tourney, Boys Denied

The Scotus girls soccer team has advanced to this week’s state tournament. The Shamrocks cruised to a 7-1 victory over Scottsbluff in Saturday’s district final at Wilderness Park.
Scotus is seeded fourth in the state tourney and will face fifth-seeded Grand Island Northwest in Wednesday’s quarterfinals. Both teams are 15-2 on the season. The Shamrocks have won 14 straight matches, including a 4-0 victory at Northwest on April 11th.
Wednesday’s kickoff at Morrison Stadium in Omaha is set for 2 p.m. Play-by-play of the match will be broadcast on KLIR 101.
Also on Saturday, the Scotus boys lost 3-1 at Grand Island Northwest in their district final matchup. The Shamrocks finished the season with a 12-5 record.
