Rhule: Defense “Played Exceptional” in Win at Illinois

With a bye this week, one would imagine the Nebraska football team will focus on ball security as the Huskers prepare to host Northwestern on October 21st.

Following NU’s 20-7 win at Illinois last Friday, coach Matt Rhule said the defense “played exceptional.”  He also noted the special teams made some plays including a blocked punt.

Rhule admitted his turnover-prone offense needs some work.  “I would have liked to have closed out the game obviously,” Rhule said.  “There are a lot of things we have to correct in that regard.  But, with all that being said…for a team that’s trying to learn how to win, I thought for the first time since I’ve been here, they kept running out on the field excited to play.”

Nebraska will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Memorial Stadium a week from Saturday.  The Big Ten announced Monday that the game against Northwestern will kick of at 2:30 p.m.
