RB’s Ervin and Johnson, DB Bootle, Suffer Season-Ending Injuries

Nebraska has lost running backs Gabe Ervin Jr. and Rahmir Johnson to season-ending injuries.

Coach Matt Rhule announced Monday that Ervin dislocated his hip and Johson dislocated his shoulder in Saturday’s win over Northern Illinois.  Defensive back Dwight Bootle also hurt his shoulder and is out for the season.

Ervin started the Huskers’ first two games and Johnson was the starting running back last Saturday.  Anthony Grant will move to the top of the depth chart at running back for Saturday’s home game against Louisiana Tech.

Rhule said quarterback Jeff Sims was able to practice last night coming off an ankle injury.  Rhule added he wouldn’t make any more comments (on the starting quarterback) until game time, “just for competitive reasons.”  Saturday’s kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.

NU’s home game against Michigan on September 30th – it was announced on Monday – will also have a 2:30 kickoff.  So, each of the next two Saturdays the pregame starts at 10:30 a.m. on News Talk 900 KJSK and will be joined at 2 p.m. on 93.5 The Hawk.
