NORFOLK- On Saturday at 8:45p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Norfolk Police Department responded to a shoplifting incident at Target, in Norfolk.

Two vehicles believed to be involved were located by a deputy near the 61st Street intersection on Highway 275. After confirming the suspects vehicle, the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop and continued west bound on Highway 275 at speeds in the excess 95 miles per hour, through traffic. Tire deflation devices were deployed and the vehicle came to a stop one mile east of Oakdale. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, Madelines Martinez Venero was taken into custody without further incident. A search of the vehicle found numerous suspected stolen items from the incident at Target. Also found was a glass pipe which contained methamphetamines. Martinez-Venero was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, and no operators license.

An investigation is still ongoing.
