Ninth-Ranked Creighton Races Past Omaha
On the same day he was selected as one of 50 players in the nation for the John R. Wooden Award watch list, Creighton’s Marcus Zegarowski scored 11 points and dished out a career-high 11 assists as the Bluejays downed Nebraska-Omaha 94-67 last night.
The win pushed ninth-ranked Creighton to 2-0, while the Mavericks fell to 1-3.
CU used an early 27-3 run to race out to a 32-10 advantage. Six players finished in double figures for the Jays, led by 18 points from Christian Bishop and 17 from Denzel Mahoney, who sat out Sunday’s opener against North Dakota State because of COVID-19 issues. UNO got 18 points from Marlon Ruffin.
Creighton hosts Kennesaw State this Friday. Tipoff is at 4 p.m. and the tilt will be televised on FS1.
