City of Columbus to Increase Water & Sewer Fees
COLUMBUS- Beginning June 1,the City of Columbus will implement a rate increase in water and sewer fees at the recommendation of an outside company in order to accommodate system growth, future water demands and more.
The City Council approved rate adjustments for water and sewer to gradually occur over the next five years. The annual increases will bring water and sewer bills up several dollars by the end of the five-year period, helping bring Columbus to be more on par with other Nebraska communities. For a household with an average monthly water bill of $20.28 right now, it will increase to approximately $22.21 beginning in June. By 2028, that average monthly bill will be at $31.93. For a household with an average monthly sewer bill of $35.06, that will increase to $36.11 in June.
By 2028, that average monthly sewer bill will be at approximately $40.64.
