It was a Father’s Day to remember at the College World Series in Omaha.

Virginia catcher Logan Michaels belted his first home run of the season – and his father, pancreatic cancer survivor Jeff Michaels was given the baseball.  The normally light-hitting Landon had two more hits to lead the Cavaliers to a 6-0 victory over Tennessee.

In last night’s game, Mississippi State pitchers Will Bednar and Landon Sims set a CWS record by combining for 21 strikeouts in the Bulldogs’ 2-1 win over Texas.

In the tourney’s first two games on Saturday, NC State topped Stanford 10-4 and Vanderbilt edged Arizona 7-6 in 12 innings.

Coming up today at TD Ameritrade Park: Stanford faces Arizona in an elimination game at 1 p.m. and Vandy meets NC State in the winner’s bracket at 6 p.m.
