Nebraska running back Maurice Washington is back in coach Scott Frost’s doghouse.

Frost told reporters yesterday that Washington is “not part of the team right now” and won’t play in the Huskers’ home game against Indiana on Saturday.  Frost also said he doesn’t see Washington “being part of our plans in the immediate future.”

Washington was suspended for the first half of the South Alabama and Northwestern games.

Frost admitted depth at running back “is getting a little sparse.” Dedrick Mills is the number one running back on the depth chart, followed by Wyatt Mazour, who is returning from a concussion. Freshman receiver Wan’Dale Robinson has also played running back.

Frost said quarterback Adrian Martinez has been “working really hard” on his rehab to return from injury. But, Frost said it’s hard to say if Martinez will play this week.
