Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez was named to the Maxwell Award watch list today.

Martinez was also named to the award’s preseason watch list in 2019.

As a sophomore last season, Martinez started 10 games for NU.  He completed nearly 60 percent of his passes for 1,956 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also rushing for 626 yards and seven scores.  Martinez ranked third in the Big Ten with over 258 yards of total offense per game.

He’s the second Nebraska player to be named to a preseason watch list in the last two days.  Wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson was named yesterday as a candidate for the Paul Hornung Award, given annually to the most versatile player in college football.
