Lakeview Makes State Volleyball For First Time Since 1981
When the state volleyball tournament opens in Lincoln on Wednesday, the Lakeview Vikings will play in the event for the first time since 1981.
The Vikings advanced to the state tourney with a 3-2 win over Wayne in Saturday’s C1-5 district final at Lakeview. The Lady Vikes prevailed 23-25, 25-20, 25-18, 26-28, 15-5.
Lakeview earned the number 5 seed in the C1 state tournament. The Vikings will meet number 4 seed Syracuse on the North court at Pinnacle Bank Arena, following the 2 p.m. match between top-seeded Wahoo and number 8 seed Adams Central.
Area teams’ matchups on Wednesday include a pair of D2 contests – Nebraska Christian taking on Diller-Odell at 9 a.m., with Humphrey St. Francis and Sacred Heart to follow. And Clarkson/Leigh meets Howells-Dodge in the C2 opening round around 8:30 p.m.
