Howells-Dodge’s bid to win its second straight state football championship was denied by Hitchcock County in today’s D2 final at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
The Jaguars led 12-8 at the half, but the Falcons rallied for a 22-12 victory. Howells-Dodge saw its 25-game winning streak snapped.
The Jags went 13-0 en route to a D1 championship last year and were 12-0 entering today’s game. But, Hitchcock County finished this season as the team with the unblemished 13-0 record and claimed the first state football title in program history.
