Henderson Wins Girls Bowling Title, Beck Makes Quarterfinals

Columbus High senior Madison Henderson became the first girls state champion in bowling yesterday. 

Henderson began yesterday’s action in the inaugural state bowling tournament in Lincoln by rolling a four-game score of 801 to qualify as the number-1 seed. 

The top eight qualifiers advanced to the singles championship bracket, where Henderson won three straight two-game matches.  In the championship, she defeated  Jamie Janke of Wayne 342-310. 

In boys singles, Columbus High’s Andrew Beck earned the number 6 seed by rolling a 731 in four qualifying games.  But, the senior lost in the quarterfinals of the championship bracket, falling to Ty Wehrs of Seward 397-316. 

Cole Macaluso of Fremont earned the top seed and won his three matches to earn the boys singles title. 

CHS will compete in today’s boys team finals and the Columbus girls will see action in their team finals tomorrow at Sun Valley Lanes.
