A day after the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family boys won a C2 state championship, the Bulldogs girls topped Shelton 42-34 to earn the D1 title on Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

A pair of H/LHF girls posted double-doubles.  Addison Schneider scored 12 points and corralled 14 rebounds, while Lexi Frauendorfer tallied 10 points and had eleven rebounds.  As a team, the Humphrey club nearly doubled up Shelton on the boards, 44-24.

H/LHF used a 19-2 run to turn a 12-9 deficit into a 28-14 lead late in the second quarter.  Still leading 33-24 after three periods, the Bulldogs secured the victory at the free throw line where they scored all nine of their fourth quarter points.

The Bulldogs girls won their first state title in their fifth trip to Lincoln as H/LHF.  Their boys counterparts captured their third state crown in the past four years on Friday.  Two other area teams played in championship games on Friday, with North Bend Central’s girls winning their third straight title, while Humphrey St. Francis was denied a repeat first-place finish by Falls City Sacred Heart.
