Eight Area Boys Wrestlers Earn Gold Medals at State
Two area boys wrestlers earned state titles in Class C on Saturday, while six more won Class D gold medals at CHI Health Center.
Central City senior Tristan Burbach wrapped up his second consecutive 48-0 campaign with his second Class C state title and fourth career medal. David City senior Kendall Schindler won his first Class C state championship.
In the Class D meet, three Aquinas wrestlers earned gold medals. They were Jacob Kavan, Kelby Coufal and Calib Svoboda. Other state champions were Uriel Guzman of Palmer, Fullerton’s Brett Bridger and Collin Vrbka of Shelby-Rising City.
Aquinas won its second straight Class D team title, after winning the Class C crown in 2022. St. Paul was the top area club in Class C this year, placing sixth. Scotus tied for 42nd place.
