Discoverers' Lasso Earns Medal at Class A State Golf

Columbus High sophomore Sarah Lasso did just enough to earn a medal at the Class A girls state golf tournament.

Lasso shot her second straight 87 in today’s final round at Norfolk Country Club and finished in 15th place. Lasso’s two-day total of 30-over, 174 was one stroke better than three others to grab the last medal.

Other Discoverers results – junior Jacey Hughes wound up tied for 30th, after shooting a 92 today following her 90 yesterday; junior Kaidence Spiegel tied for 52nd after carding a 98 today on top of her 94 Monday; and senior Sarah Massman shaved eight strokes off her opening round score by shooting a 94 today to finish 59th.

Lincoln Pius X sophomore Nicole Kolbas won the state title by topping her 71 Monday with a 69 today. She finished 12 strokes ahead of Westside junior Kaitlyn Hanna.

North Platte won the team championship, by 23 strokes over runner-up Pius.
