CU Guard, Duke Transfer Granted Immediate Eligibility
Creighton guard Alex O’Connell has been granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA. The senior has not played in the Bluejays’ first six games this season while sitting out after an off-season transfer from Duke.
He appeared in 101 games for the Blue Devils, including 14 starts. O’Connell averaged better than four points per game for Duke with a single-game high of 20 points.
Ninth-ranked Creighton takes a 4-2 record to St. John’s tonight to face a 5-3 Red Storm club. Both teams are looking for their first Big East win. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. The game will be televised on FS1.
Meantime, the Creighton women’s basketball team visits number-3 UConn tonight. The Bluejays are 2-3, while the Huskies are 2-0. Both clubs are 1-0 in Big East play.
