Cornerstone Columbus Seniors Win Area Tourney Title

The Cornerstone Insurance Group Columbus Seniors are area champions. 

Cornerstone defeated Lincoln Northeast 5-1 in last night’s A6 area championship in Fremont.  Columbus starter Abe Christensen pitched a complete game.  He gave up one run on five hits and four walks, with three strikeouts in seven innings.  

Cornerstone has a 17-11 record after going 4-1 in the area tourney.  Columbus, which earned a trip to state last year but did not win an area title, will play in the Class A National Division state tournament in Hastings.  It begins on Saturday.  The bracket has not yet been released.
