Cornerstone Columbus Seniors Edged in Opener at Hastings

The Cornerstone Insurance Group Columbus Seniors suffered a 4-3 loss at Hastings in their season opener last night. 

Hastings took an early lead with a run in the bottom of the first.  Cornerstone went ahead with a two-run fourth inning.  But, the home club tied it in the fifth.  Columbus scored in the top of the sixth to lead 3-2, only to see Hastings put together a decisive, two-run rally in the home half of the frame.  Tadan Bell racked up 11 strikeouts in 5.2 innings. 

The Seniors will play in a tournament at York this weekend. 

In the Junior Legion game at Hastings, the Columbus United Federal Credit Union Junior Blues dropped a 9-1 decision.  The Junior Blues are scheduled to play their home opener against Kearney next Tuesday at 5 p.m. followed by the Seniors vs. Kearney at 7:30 p.m.
