CHS Names Next Baseball Coach, Discoverers Lose to G.I.

Columbus High announced today John Riedmiller will be the next head coach of the Discoverers baseball program.

Riedmiller will take over for Jimmy Johnson, who is resigning at the end of the season.  Riedmiller began his coaching career in 2016 at Stanton, where he coached football and basketball.  The Columbus High 2012 graduate returned here in 2017.  Since then, he has been the head coach of the Discoverers JV baseball team, an assistant varsity football coach, and the co-head coach of the CHS powerlifting team.

In prep baseball Monday, Columbus was tied with Grand Island at 2-all going to the seventh inning, when the Islanders exploded for 11 runs and a 13-2 victory.  The loss was the fifth in the last six games for the Discoverers, who slipped to 10-12.

CHS will wrap up the regular season with a game at Omaha North today.
