CHS, Central City/Fullerton/Centura Try to Stay Alive

Columbus High will try to stave off elimination in today’s Class A state baseball tournament, while an area club will do likewise in Class B action.

The Discoverers, who were edged in Saturday’s opening game by top-seeded Millard South 2-1, face Papillion-La Vista South today.  First pitch is set for 10 a.m. at Haymarket Park.  The game will be broadcast on 93.5 The Hawk.

In the Class B tourney at Werner Park, Central City/Fullerton/Centura will try to bounce back from Saturday’s 14-4 loss in six innings to Skutt Catholic.  The Kernels will take on Bennington following the 10 a.m. game.  First pitch had been slated for 1 p.m., but the NSAA has decided that, due to rain in the forecast all state tourney games today will be on a rolling schedule, with each game starting about 30 minutes after the end of the previous contest.
