CHS Baseball Wins Twice to Reach HAC Tourney Semifinals
Columbus High’s baseball team posted two victories to advance to today’s semifinals of the Heartland Athletic Conference tournament in Lincoln.
In the Discoverers’ first game yesterday against Fremont, they used a five-run sixth inning to win 10-9. Nick Zoucha went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
In the quarterfinals against Grand Island, Jarrett Bell’s three-run double in the top of fifth helped Columbus to a 7-4 win. Quenton Gustafson stroked an RBI triple and scored two runs in the contest. The Discoverers have won five straight games and are 6-6.
CHS will face Lincoln Southeast at Den Hartog Field today. First pitch is approximately 3 p.m.
In other prep baseball action Tuesday, Central City/Fullerton/Centura downed Crete 18-0 and St. Paul/Palmer got by Twin River 6-5.
