Cardinals Battle Wahoo Today For Class C1 State Football Title

Boone Central meets Wahoo in a battle of unbeaten teams in today’s Class C1 state football championship.

The No. 2 seed Cardinals and top-seeded Warriors are both 12-0.  Boone Central coach Mark Hudson was asked how the Cardinals offense will attack a stout Wahoo defense that has allowed just seven points in three playoff games.

“We want to be able to run the ball and throw the ball at any time on any play,” Hudson said of his diverse offense.  “It’s cliche, everybody understands it, but the offensive and defensive line will probably be the area that decides the game.”

Kickoff at Memorial Stadium is set for 10:15 a.m.  You can hear play-by-play on KZ-100.

In yesterday’s championship games, Kyle Cox had a record-setting day with 486 rushing yards on 65 carries, scoring six touchdowns to lead Sandhills-Thedford to a 50-12 win over Wynot for the D2 title.  Stanton edged EMF 42-36 in the D1 championship.  And Bennington blanked Skutt 21-0 for the Class B crown.
