Annual KLIR Prep Club Award Winners Announced

Six local student-athletes have been voted as the winners of the annual KLIR Prep Club Awards.

Prep Club members selected Tanner Esch and Addi Johnson of Columbus High, Derek Line and Taylor Greisen of Lakeview High, and Frank Fehringer and Joanna Rusher of Scotus Central Catholic.

Esch was praised by his coaches for his hard work and leadership in football, basketball and track.  In football, he earned all-conference honors three years and was selected to play in this summer’s Shrine Bowl.  Johnson starred for the Discoverers in volleyball, leading the team in kills last season, and was a multi-year qualifier in state track.

Line was an All-District running back for Lakeview as a senior, rushing for 947 yards and nine touchdowns, while also making a big impact at linebacker.  Line’s track and field coach called him “a great competitor.”  Greisen was honorable mention all-conference for the Vikings girls basketball team.  Her cross country coach credited her with “playing a huge role” in Lakeview making the state meet for the first time in school history.

Fehringer was a standout on the Scotus football team as a kicker and a linebacker.  He also runs for the Shamrocks track team and has medaled in every meet he has participated in this spring.  Rusher had an all-conference senior season in volleyball, leading Scotus in kills, blocks and service aces.  She was a two-time all-conference selection in basketball and helped the Shamrocks reach three district finals.  In track and field, Rusher has been one of the ‘Rocks top high jumpers the last two years.

Each winner will receive a $500 scholarship and a plaque, courtesy of KLIR and its Prep Club.
