Scotus Girls, Schuyler Boys Win Saturday to Make State

In Saturday’s Class B soccer district finals, the Scotus girls and Schuyler boys punched their tickets to state, while the Warriors girls lost. 

The Shamrocks girls rallied from a 2-0 deficit for a 4-2 victory at Blair.  Emma Brezenski scored all four goals for Scotus, which won its ninth straight match to improve to 13-3.  The ‘Rocks advance to next week’s state tournament for the fourth consecutive season and 26th year all-time.  Scotus is seeded eighth and meets top-seeded Gretna East Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. 

The Schuyler boys posted a 6-0 home win over Hastings to move to 14-3.  The Warriors will make their second straight trip to Omaha and 13th in history.  They’re the No. 6 seed and face No. 3 seed Bennington Thursday at 2 p.m.  The Schuyler girls were downed Saturday 10-0 at Norris, finishing at 10-6. 

In the Class A brackets released Saturday, the Columbus girls are seeded No. 6 and play Monday at 2 p.m. against 3-seed Lincoln Pius X.  The Discoverers boys are No. 8 and meet top-seeded Lincoln Southwest Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
