Schwellenbach Named John Olerud Two-Way POY

Nebraska baseball’s Spencer Schwellenbach has won the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award.

His selection was announced today by the College Baseball Foundation.  Schwellenbach is the first Husker to receive the honor, which began in 2010.  The award is named for the former Washington State standout who achieved success both as a first baseman and a pitcher during the 1980s.

At the plate this season, Schwellenbach ranked in the top 10 of the Big Ten in runs, RBI and walks.  On the mound, he led the conference with 10 saves.

He was also named today to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region team.
